Bookkeeping and Budgeting
Bookkeeping and budgeting can be some of the most difficult tasks for small business owners to accomplish. Without a solid financial plan and bookkeeping strategy, running your small business can quickly become a messy undertaking.
When selecting a bookkeeping format for your business, it is important to know all the options. To view the resource that CAFE has created which explains the positive and negative differences between four different styles of bookkeeping and how they could benefit your small business, see our Bookkeeping Systems page.
Another important aspect of bookkeeping is learning how long to store records and documents before they are no longer required. The SBA has created a table that explains the length of time small businesses should keep different types of records. It is published in the SBA Participant Guide for Financial Education Curriculum (at page 9).
